Our mission is to establish a culture of retaining and attracting exceptional people in order to provide exceptional services.

Our vision is to be one of Australia’s most reputable professional services firms, providing innovative solutions and creating superior value for our people and our clients.

About

Established in 2001, FSA is a professional services firm providing tax, audit and advisory services to some of Australia’s leading privately owned businesses, publicly listed companies, not-for-profit organisations and high net worth individuals.

Our service offering includes advice and solutions traditionally provided by top tier professional services firms, at exceptional value. It includes corporate tax, international tax, estate and business succession planning, research and development, business valuations, due diligence reviews, audit and assurance services and structuring commercial transactions.

As a testament to our quality, FSA continues to be engaged by a number of accounting, finance and legal practices across Australia to act as special tax counsel.

In essence, we are defined by our people and the clients that we represent.

Our clients include prominent privately owned businesses, publicly listed companies, high growth companies, innovative start-ups, reputable not-for-profit organisations and foreign multinationals investing in Australia.

FSA continues to expand and attract exceptional people due in no small part to our values:

Honesty and Integrity
We present our service offering, fees and capabilities in an ethical and honest manner.

Care and Commitment
We care for our people and our clients.

We do not limit opportunities for personal growth and development for our people.

We commit wholeheartedly to our clients and take pride in their success and make ourselves available when required.

Knowledge and Strategic Thinking
We achieve exceptional results for our clients by retaining and attracting exceptional people who are at the forefront of the latest changes, strategies and developments in the accounting field.

Diversity
It is fundamental to our success that we accept, value and incorporate people from a wide variety of backgrounds, expertise and experience, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or gender.

At FSA, we have earned a reputation for providing outstanding taxation and accounting services.

Not only do we focus on your year end accounting and taxation compliance needs, but also on engaging with you as your trusted business advisor, ensuring that every key business decision is structured in the most tax effective and commercial manner.

We are able to achieve this through our extensive experience in the industry, strong commitment to professional development and ensuring we have a complementary two partner review on all major assignments.

The core fundamentals of any tax strategy and structuring advice is ensuring the business structure provides asset protection, tax efficiency and is commercially viable.

Our team has earned a reputation for being able to provide bespoke solutions, irrespective of the stage of the business lifecycle, which assists our clients in achieving their personal, financial and business goals.

The Australian tax system is in a continuing state of reform which in recent years has escalated. Such reform often creates a degree of uncertainty when applying the law.

We are able to guide you through the detail and complexity of the law by taking difficult concepts and explaining matters in simple terms, which allows you to make sound decisions.

Our expertise includes assisting you with ATO audits and dispute resolution, Capital Gains Tax, Division 7A, Income Tax, mergers and acquisitions, preparation of private and class rulings, preparation of reasonably arguable position papers, review of deductibility of prior year tax losses, tax consolidation, designing effective employee share schemes and providing advice in relation to share buybacks.

In an age of globalisation, businesses are more often required to keep abreast of the foreign tax landscape. We assist by advising Australian businesses how to effectively establish offshore structures and how foreign businesses should set up operations in Australia.

We also offer inbound investor services including assisting foreign businesses enter the Australian market by establishing the preferred structure, acting as a resident director and liaising with our partners in migration and banking.

In addition, our team has extensive experience in advising on the operation of the Controlled Foreign Corporations (CFC) rules, Double Tax Agreements, foreign hybrid rules, inbound and outbound investments, participation exemptions, thin capitalisation, transfer pricing and withholding taxes.

Many businesses do not have the necessary resources to identify eligible R&D activities and file a completed claim.

At FSA, we can complete the process from document preparation through to submission. We have extensive tax technical expertise to provide tailored assistance to suit client needs. This helps to maximise the benefit arising under the R&D tax incentive program whilst mitigating the risks associated with non-compliance.

Unlike most other professional firms, we offer a fixed fee for our service rather than a fee based on the percentage of the benefit received. This approach generally results in significant savings for our clients.

Superannuation should form a key part of your overall wealth creation strategy as it provides a means to efficiently manage your investments over your lifetime.

Superannuation should also complement your personal, business and tax efficiency objectives.

Obtaining the right superannuation advice can ensure you fully utilise the amount of tax free pension payments you draw and our estate planning strategies can effectively maximize wealth across multiple generations.

We can also assist with establishing a Self Managed Superannuation Fund, design effective tax strategies, and attend to the annual compliance including; preparation of financial statements, member reports, annual returns, associated minutes and liaison with the Australian Taxation Office.

At FSA, audit services are offered by a team of qualified auditors who have the knowledge and experience required to ensure that financial statements meet relevant regulatory requirements and statutory obligations of stakeholders.

The audit division uses an industry standard audit tool which has been approved by world class professional organisations and is tailored to your specific needs. Our objective is to take a planned and proactive approach to all audits resulting in an efficient process and outcome.

In designing our audit procedures we take an approach that considers the overall risks facing a business including; internal controls, fraud, inherent and general business risks.

As part of the audit process we communicate to you any improvements to ensure continued benefit to the business.

As part of our capabilities at FSA, we assist our clients with non-statutory audits and reviews including; outgoings audits under the Retail Shop Leases Act, turnover audits for lessors and lessees, completion audits, grant audits and agreed-upon procedures engagements.

Through our experience in ASIC financial services licenses, APRA prudential requirements and trust account audits for real estate agents and solicitors, we are able to assist organisations manage their regulatory risk.

At FSA we are able to offer our services across different categories of risk exposure and internal controls. We aim to assist our clients in managing their risks and in seeking improvements.

We offer quality assurance reviews, risk assessments and controls optimisation.

Our due diligence assists with building financial and commercial confidence for major business decisions. We assess all risks and opportunities of potential transactions through a process of enquiry, analysis and interpretation. Our services range from limited-scope reviews looking at historical financial information to full-scale financial and taxation due diligences.

Through strategy design and implementation we assist our clients to develop a plan to achieve their long term goals by providing a wide range of services including exit strategy and succession planning; implementation and monitoring; market expansion; and strategy development and determination.

Many business owners often fail to realise that their business has outgrown its current structure until it is too late. At this point, restructuring may lead to prohibitive tax and commercial costs.

At FSA, we review our clients’ business structures frequently and ensure these structures are providing them with the optimal asset protection and tax benefits.

All business decisions affect value. You may be considering acquiring or disposing of a business, transferring intellectual property, insuring your assets, engaged in a value dispute or considering the value impact of a new project or strategy.

We are able to measure, evaluate and advise you in order to establish the true value of your business, capital expenditure, acquisitions and investments.

Estate planning is not limited to making a will. Rather, estate planning is the process of arranging for your assets to be dealt with in accordance with your wishes whilst minimising the tax impost.

Our team has extensive experience in designing bespoke estate plans that are tailored to your wishes. Our estate plans also ensure there is tax efficiency and asset protection available to the beneficiaries of the estate.

In broad terms, business succession planning is a must for any business owned by two or more parties. In the absence of a business succession plan, the death of a business owner can create undue stress for the surviving business owner(s) and the outgoing owner’s estate.

Our team of experts has earned a reputation for being able to design bespoke business succession plans having regard for the wishes of all parties.
